With a 231–195 vote the House passed legislation repealing former President Trump’s March 2025 executive order that barred collective bargaining for federal employees at parts of agencies including Defense, State, VA, Justice, Energy, DHS, Treasury, HHS, Interior and Agriculture, after a discharge petition led by Rep. Jared Golden forced the floor; 20 Republicans joined Democrats. A Senate companion introduced by Sen. Mark Warner and co‑sponsored by Sens. Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski awaits action in the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, and Golden — joined by Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick — is lobbying senators as GOP support in the upper chamber remains uncertain.
