DHS disputes report CISA chief failed classified polygraph
The Department of Homeland Security is pushing back on a Politico report that acting CISA Director Madhu Gottumukkala failed a polygraph test required for access to a tightly restricted intelligence program, as at least six career cybersecurity staffers were placed on paid leave amid an internal investigation. DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said Gottumukkala 'did not fail a sanctioned polygraph test,' calling the exam an 'unsanctioned' effort coordinated by staff who misled incoming leadership, and asserted that disciplinary actions complied with department policy while the secretary fully supports Gottumukkala.
