FCC Chairman Brendan Carr has launched a probe into the BBC after a Panorama documentary ran a spliced edit that he said "intentionally distorted" former President Trump's Jan. 6 remarks. BBC chair Samir Shah told a UK parliamentary committee the broadcaster took too long to address and apologize for the edit — which created the false impression Trump called for direct violent action — saying leadership had wanted to apologize earlier; the BBC maintains there is no basis for Trump’s defamation claim and does not plan to re‑air the programme.
