FBI Director Kash Patel plans to use a Senate Intelligence Committee worldwide‑threats hearing Wednesday to promote a suite of reforms he says have reshaped the bureau under President Donald Trump’s second term, according to prepared themes obtained by Fox. Patel is expected to highlight expanded biometric collection overseas, shifting agents out of Washington into field offices, doubling the size and funding of FBI drone operations, creating a new counter‑drone training center for local police, and launching artificial‑intelligence tools to support intelligence collection. He will also cite headline arrest and seizure statistics from the past year, including disrupting roughly 1,800 gangs and criminal enterprises, seizing more than 2,250 kilos of fentanyl, a 112% jump in violent‑crime arrests, nearly 350 cyber indictments, 6,000 child victims located, and 1,700 suspected child predators arrested. Democrats have accused Patel of politicizing the FBI, while he and Republicans argue reforms such as ending what he calls 'politicized' threat‑banding — including how categories like white‑supremacist violence are prioritized — are meant to depoliticize the agency. The hearing, which will also feature DNI Tulsi Gabbard, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, DIA Director James Adams and Acting Cyber Command chief William Hartman, will give the first broad public airing of these internal FBI shifts and their implications for both security and civil liberties.
