The Supreme Court declined to immediately allow the Trump administration to fire U.S. Copyright Office director Shira Perlmutter, leaving lower-court rulings in place while it awaits decisions in two related removal-power cases. The justices set arguments for December in the FTC Commissioner Rebecca Slaughter case and January in the Fed Governor Lisa Cook case; Justice Clarence Thomas would have allowed Perlmutter’s removal now.
