The French Navy intercepted the Russian oil tanker "Grinch" in the Mediterranean as part of an intensified Western crackdown on vessels moving sanctioned Russian crude. Tracking data indicate the Grinch — described as one of more than 1,000 "shadow" tankers — left Murmansk in early January, sailed near Turkey’s Black Sea coast and appeared bound for the Suez Canal when it was seized.
