A New Mexico grand jury has indicted actor Timothy Busfield on four counts of criminal sexual contact of a child, with Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman issuing a public statement emphasizing the county’s commitment to protecting children and seeking justice for victims. Busfield’s attorney Larry Stein called the indictment “not unexpected” and said the case is “fundamentally unsound” after what he described as fatal weaknesses exposed at the detention hearing; Busfield surrendered Jan. 13, was initially held without bail and released Jan. 20 on his own recognizance with court-ordered conditions barring contact with minors and certain witnesses, and the original arrest warrant said hospital professionals told the children’s parents the twins showed signs consistent with “grooming.”
