GasBuddy projects the average U.S. gasoline price in 2026 will be $2.97 per gallon, the lowest annual level since 2020 and about 13 cents below 2025, citing strong refinery output, robust domestic crude production, lower oil prices and softer demand. The firm expects seasonal volatility, with prices rising to around $3.20 in spring and early summer before falling to an average of $2.83 after June, and estimates the typical U.S. household will spend about $2,083 on gasoline this year as national diesel prices average $3.55 per gallon.
