The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on Monday urged consumers to immediately stop using specific Rad Power Bikes lithium‑ion batteries (models RP-1304 and HL-RP-S1304), citing a fire and explosion hazard, especially after exposure to water or debris. CPSC said it has 31 fire reports, including 12 that caused property damage totaling about $734,500, and noted some incidents occurred when batteries were neither charging nor in use; Rad Power Bikes disputes the agency’s characterization and has not agreed to a recall.
