USDA Food and Nutrition Service data show $102 million in stolen SNAP benefits in the first quarter of FY2025, with 226,000 fraudulent claims and 691,000 unauthorized transactions; Alabama recorded the most stolen-benefit claims, followed by California and New York. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said Monday the administration will require all SNAP recipients to reapply and ordered states to share recipient data; so far 29 states have complied, revealing 186,000 deceased individuals and about 500,000 people receiving benefits in more than one state.
