U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro said Tuesday that President Donald Trump’s 'Operation Make D.C. Safe & Beautiful' federal law‑enforcement surge has led to more than 8,400 arrests, roughly 8,100 violent‑fugitive apprehensions and 856 guns taken off the streets since August 2025, asserting that prosecution rates are at 'historic highs' and that fewer than 10% of eligible cases now go uncharged versus almost 70% under the prior administration. Citing marshals’ task‑force data, Pirro claimed the intensified prosecutions and federal partnership have helped drive 2025 homicides down 60%, robberies down 49%, carjackings down 68% and overall crime down 32% in Washington, D.C., and credited Trump’s directive and added agents, tools and 'no‑nonsense mandate' for what she called a turning point in public safety in the nation’s capital.
