Delaware State Police say Cpl. Matthew “Ty” Snook was fatally shot Wednesday at the New Castle DMV after a 44‑year‑old man identified as Rahman Rose of Wilmington approached him from behind, and Snook pushed a DMV employee to safety and urged them to run; Rose then allowed customers to leave but opened fire on responding officers and was later shot by a New Castle County officer and died at a hospital. Officials, who briefly closed all state DMV locations and said there was no ongoing threat, said federal prosecutors were assisting the investigation, and the Tunnel to Towers Foundation announced it will pay off Snook’s mortgage and provide ongoing support for his widow and 1‑year‑old daughter.
