Oklahoma authorities have charged registered sex offender Shelby Lang Smith with defacing the Oklahoma State Capitol, the Oklahoma City Civic Center and the OKC Municipal Court building with anti‑ICE graffiti, including the phrase "KILL ICE" and messages targeting Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt. Police say Smith was arrested Jan. 23 and now faces 10 counts of malicious injury to property and three counts of threatening violent acts tied to the vandalism spree. Court records cited by local media show he was sentenced Feb. 18 to five years in prison for violating probation stemming from a 2022 conviction for soliciting sexual conduct with a minor by use of technology. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol, which is responsible for Capitol security, released video of the arrest and warned in a public statement that threats or damage against the Capitol "will not be tolerated" and will be aggressively investigated. The incident folds into a broader national climate of escalating rhetoric and occasional violence around ICE and immigration enforcement facilities, underscoring how protest slogans can cross into criminal threats when they explicitly call for killing federal officers.
