U.S. District Judge James Boasberg ordered the Trump administration to pay to fly back or admit at a U.S. port of entry 137 Venezuelan men who were deported under the Alien Enemies Act to El Salvador’s CECOT prison and later moved to other countries, finding that at least some had been denied due process. The order requires the government to cover travel costs for those now abroad, gives plaintiffs 15 days to list who wishes to return, and prompted sharp responses from DHS—calling the men properly removed as terrorists—and from the ACLU, which condemned CECOT as a “brutal torture prison.”
