The House passed a GOP health-care bill (216–211) that does not extend enhanced ACA premium tax credits, even as those subsidies are set to lapse at year-end and roughly 20 million enrollees face sharp premium increases. Moderate Republicans pressed for temporary or multi-year extensions—filing multiple discharge petitions and with several GOP members joining a Democratic-led three-year petition—but the Rules Committee blocked amendment votes, the discharge process cannot force immediate action before the deadline, and CBO says the GOP bill would lower benchmark premiums ~11%, reduce the deficit by $35.6 billion over 10 years and raise the uninsured by about 100,000.
