Commercial Driver Licensing and Safety

The U.S. Department of Transportation, citing an FMCSA review, warned Thursday it will withhold $75 million in federal funding from Pennsylvania unless the state halts issuance and renewals of non‑domiciled commercial driver’s licenses/permits, audits past issuances, and voids noncompliant licenses. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said PennDOT illegally issued CDLs to ineligible foreigners by failing to verify lawful presence and setting expirations beyond authorized stays, a move prompted by the arrest of Uzbek terror‑suspect trucker Akhror Bozorov who held a Pennsylvania CDL.
