Colorado Gov. Jared Polis’s administration and Xcel Energy petitioned state regulators last week to keep the Comanche Unit 2 coal plant online for at least another year, delaying a shutdown previously slated for Dec. 31. A Polis spokesperson cited a separate broken Comanche unit and grid reliability needs, while emphasizing the state’s progress toward 100% clean energy goals.
