Kentucky has reinstalled a donated Ten Commandments monument on the state Capitol grounds in Frankfort this week, more than 40 years after it was removed during construction, under House Joint Resolution 15 passed by large bipartisan margins in February and March. The move comes after a 2000 federal ruling blocked earlier efforts under the now-abandoned Lemon test, with supporters citing the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2022 Kennedy v. Bremerton decision and opponents warning of new Establishment Clause challenges and demands for equal representation of other faiths.
