Georgia authorities have arrested Lee County High School teacher Danielle Weaver, 29, on charges of child molestation and improper sexual contact by an employee after allegations of inappropriate contact with a student under 18 surfaced. School officials asked the Leesburg Police Department to investigate on Feb. 3, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation joined the probe the next day, ultimately identifying Weaver as the subject and obtaining arrest warrants Tuesday. Weaver turned herself in to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday and was later released on bond; investigators say the victim is a current Lee County High School student. The GBI says the investigation remains active and ongoing, and plans to refer the case to the Southwestern Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution, while the district has not yet publicly commented on Weaver’s employment status or any broader review of school safeguards. The case adds to a steady pattern of teacher–student sex prosecutions drawing national concern about vetting and oversight of school staff with daily access to minors.
