Former Wall High School teacher Julie Rizzitello, 37, was sentenced in Monmouth County Superior Court to 10 years in New Jersey state prison for grooming and sexually assaulting two male students between 2017–2018 and 2024, including at her home, in a car and at her family’s Belmar bagel shop where she had helped them get jobs. Judge Jill G. O’Malley also ordered lifetime parole supervision, mandatory sex‑offender registration under Megan’s Law, a permanent ban on teaching, and no contact with the victims. Prosecutors said Rizzitello met the boys when one was a freshman and the other a junior at Wall Township High School, cultivated "friendly" relationships that escalated into repeated sexual activity, and later urged them to delete digital evidence once an investigation began. She pleaded guilty in September to two counts of second‑degree sexual assault after a district employee reported her relationship with one student, and a second victim came forward describing earlier assaults corroborated by texts and photos. The case underscores continuing concern about teacher‑student boundary violations and the need for districts and law enforcement to act on early warning signs of grooming behavior.
