Chicago prosecutors charged Wuinayker Rodriguez‑Vasquez, 16, as an adult with first‑degree murder in the Sunday morning stabbing death of a 49‑year‑old homeless man in the Loop; two 14‑year‑olds were also charged (one with first‑degree murder, one with armed robbery) and ordered held in juvenile court. A judge ordered Rodriguez‑Vasquez held pre‑trial after prosecutors said surveillance video captured the attack, and DHS records indicate he entered the U.S. near Eagle Pass, Texas, in Sept. 2023 and was released at that time with his mother.
