Families of the four University of Idaho students killed in the 2022 Moscow stabbings have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Washington State University in Skagit County Superior Court, alleging the school ignored repeated warnings about Bryan Kohberger’s threatening and predatory behavior toward women. The complaint, filed Jan. 7, 2026, accuses WSU of gross negligence, wrongful death and Title IX violations for failing to investigate or act on at least 13 reported incidents during the fall 2022 semester while employing Kohberger as a criminology teaching assistant with salary, benefits and campus housing.
