UAB offensive lineman Daniel Israel Mincey — a 6'4" redshirt freshman from Pompano Beach, Florida who transferred from Kentucky — was charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault after authorities say he stabbed teammates Joshua Underwood and JaSire Peterson hours before kickoff; bond was set at $90,000 after his initial court appearance and jail records show he remained in custody following an arrest by UAB Campus Police just before 1 p.m. Both injured defensive linemen have been released from the hospital and are recovering, and UAB elected to play the scheduled game (losing 48–18 to South Florida) while offering counseling to players, with some teammates choosing not to participate and the team next scheduled to play Tulsa on Nov. 29.
