Flash flood warnings were issued for parts of Los Angeles County — including downtown LA, Santa Monica, Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Studio City — as a strong atmospheric river brought heavy rain (NWS reported rates up to about 1 inch per hour) and flood warnings extended from the Ventura County coast through Malibu into the city. Officials warned of mudslide risk in recent burn scars, with Mayor Karen Bass ordering evacuations for high‑risk properties in the Palisades and Eaton fire areas and broader advisories remaining in effect across Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties as the storm (which dropped more than 4 inches in coastal Santa Barbara and heavy snow in the Sierra Nevada) has been linked to multiple storm‑related deaths and ongoing searches.
