An explosion at Abundant Life Fellowship Church in Boonville, about 50 miles northeast of Syracuse, occurred around 10:30 a.m., injuring five people â including a firefighter who was critically burned after responding to reports of a gas odor. Five people were hospitalized, two in critical condition, and New York State Police said there is no initial indication of criminal activity; the church was reportedly heated by propane cylinders.
