Trump UN Aviation Nominee Omitted $426K in Tax Liens From Ethics Filing
Fox News Digital reports that Jeffrey Anderson, President Trump’s nominee to be U.S. ambassador to the International Civil Aviation Organization, failed to disclose roughly $426,000 in federal tax liens on his official financial-disclosure form even though the IRS had filed those liens for tax years 2012–2019. IRS Certificates of Release reviewed by Fox show the liens — connected to 'small business/self-employed' taxes in two Georgia counties — were not released until October 2025, after Anderson signed his OGE Form 278e in August 2025 and after that form was logged in the Office of Government Ethics system in September. Despite OGE instructions that filers must report any liability over $10,000 owed at any time during the reporting period, Anderson’s disclosure lists only a single mortgage under liabilities, with no mention of IRS debts or liens. The administration continues to call Anderson, a retired Delta pilot and Navy veteran, 'highly qualified' and a strong advocate for its 'America First' aviation agenda, but the omission raises questions about whether his filing complied with federal ethics rules and whether Senate Foreign Relations Committee members will press him over the issue before voting on his confirmation. The controversy lands at a time when public trust in federal ethics enforcement is already strained and social-media critics are highlighting the gap between Trump-era rhetoric about tax compliance and the record of some of his own appointees.
