Fulton County Judge Kevin Farmer on Dec. 30, 2025 dismissed Georgia racketeering charges against 61 opponents of Atlanta’s planned public safety training center, ruling that Republican Attorney General Chris Carr lacked authority to obtain the 2023 RICO indictments without authorization from Gov. Brian Kemp. Carr’s office, which has also brought separate domestic‑terrorism and arson counts against some defendants, said it will appeal, while defense attorneys praised the decision as a rebuke to what critics had labeled a politically driven attempt to criminalize the 'Cop City' protest movement.
