Planned Parenthood has voluntarily dismissed its Massachusetts federal lawsuit challenging a Trump-era tax provision that allows HHS to cut Medicaid payments to providers that primarily provide abortion after a December appeals-court ruling allowed the administration to continue withholding funding and the group said the decision made continuing the case no longer the best way to protect patients. The group says the funding cuts have already forced 23 of its clinics to close and contributed to more than 50 family-planning clinic closures across 18 states last year, while related legal challenges â a multi-state Democratic attorneys general suit â have suffered setbacks but remain active and a separate Maine case was voluntarily dismissed in October.
