Houston DA Charges ICE Officer Over Vehicle Strike On Fleeing Man

Harris County District Attorney Sean Teare charged ICE officer Mario Alberto Morales with second-degree aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on October 30, 2026, after prosecutors say Morales struck a fleeing man with a car in Houston.[1]

The incident occurred on October 10, 2026, when an unmarked Jeep Cherokee driven by Morales struck 48-year-old Miguel Parra Hernandez as he ran away in Houston, breaking Parra Hernandez's leg.[1] Body-camera audio released by prosecutors captures Morales saying, "I was coming in and I hit him with the car," while ICE publicly maintains Parra Hernandez stepped in front of the vehicle.[1]

Teare alleges the Department of Homeland Security and ICE have not cooperated with his office, which is also investigating a separate July 2026 fatal ICE shooting in Houston.[1]
