Minneapolis gang member sentenced in machine-gun case
Amiir Mawlid Ali, identified by police as a Minneapolis Muddy street gang member, was sentenced to nearly three years in federal prison for possession of a machine gun.[1]
Prosecutors said the weapon was a Glock fitted with an illegal auto-sear "switch" and that Ali's DNA was found on the gun.[1] The charge grew out of a June 3, 2025 Minneapolis traffic stop that took place between shootings at Wayzata and Burnsville high school graduation ceremonies.[1]
Ali was convicted in April and had been released after a roughly 36-hour hold before he was arrested again following the Burnsville graduation shooting.[1] Police named Ali a member of the Muddy street gang, which was later included in a lawsuit seeking to bar gang members from the Minnesota State Fair.[1]
