St. Paul kidnapping suspect arrested, alert lifted

St. Paul police arrested Eduart Gomez Ochoa shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, near Dale St. N. and Wheelock Pkwy. W. on kidnapping and burglary charges.[1]

Officers arrested him after a citizen reported seeing him, and he is being held at the Ramsey County Law Enforcement Center.[1] Police say the arrest ties to a reported Oct. 22 attempted abduction through an apartment window on the 700 block of Como Ave.[1]

He already faced Ramsey County charges for second-degree criminal sexual conduct and burglary over a May 7 attack on the 1500 block of Westminster St.[1] St. Paul police noted that a Hennepin County judge had conditionally released Gomez Ochoa without bail on Sept. 29 in an unrelated third-degree assault case stemming from a January incident.[1]

St. Paul police canceled the public safety alert after the arrest and said they were "disappointed" with the Hennepin County court's Sept. 29 release decision.[1]
