Massachusetts Man Pleads Guilty To Importing And Selling Russian Plutonium

Jacob D. Miller, 44, pleaded guilty in September 2026 to importing Russian plutonium and related federal charges, and faces decades in prison because of prior felonies.[1]

Prosecutors said Miller admitted to importing nuclear material without lawful authority, mailing hazardous materials and possessing child pornography, among other counts.[1] Authorities executed a search warrant at Miller's South Hadley, Massachusetts, home on April 8, 2025, seizing plutonium, hazardous chemicals, six firearms, ammunition, explosive materials and child sexual abuse materials.[1] He has been held in federal custody since his arrest on April 9, 2025, after a grand jury indicted him on April 17, 2025.[1]

Investigators said the seized plutonium was imported from Russia.[1] Because of his prior felony convictions, the nuclear material and child pornography counts each carry potential sentences of up to 20 years in prison. U.S. District Judge Mark G. Mastroianni has scheduled Miller's sentencing for January 21, 2027.[1]
