Brooklyn Center daycare provider charged in infant death

A Brooklyn Center daycare provider, Narcisa De Jesus Morales Deleg, 58, was charged Tuesday with second-degree manslaughter in the death of an infant.[1]

Prosecutors say the infant, who was 7 months old, was found not breathing around 4:40 p.m. on June 30, 2025.[1] Investigators say Deleg sent texts and Facebook Messenger messages to family and other parents until 4:58 p.m., and did not place a 911 call until 5:03 p.m.[1]

A child-abuse pediatrician told investigators the baby had brain damage from lack of oxygen and that a 15-20 minute delay in calling 911 significantly worsened the infant's outcome.[1] A complaint also alleges the infant was fed with a propped bottle in a swing despite being unable to hold a bottle himself, which prosecutors say increased the risk of choking or positional asphyxia.[1]

Prosecutors filed the manslaughter charge in Hennepin County on Tuesday as the case moves through the courts.[1]
