Ole Miss Student Death Probes May Trigger Mississippi Anti-Fentanyl Law
Two University of Mississippi students who died this week in Oxford may prompt charges under Mississippi's anti-fentanyl Parker's Law if toxicology finds fentanyl and unlawful delivery is proved.[1]
Public Safety Commissioner Sean Tindell said toxicology reports could be finished as early as the week of September 28 and that charges may follow if fentanyl and unlawful delivery are confirmed.[1] Two students — 20-year-old junior Robert Strang and 18-year-old freshman Aidan Hamilton — died under suspicious circumstances in Oxford in the past week, and narcotics detectives are involved in both investigations.[1]
Oxford police recently raided Puffs Vape, Tobacco and Beer Store on the 100 block of Heritage Drive, seizing more than 500 units of kratom and various THC products and arresting two local residents.[1] Authorities identified the arrestees as Yahya Mohamed Mosleh, 51, and Islam Mohamed, 18.[1]
Officials say they will wait for toxicology results before deciding whether to file Parker's Law charges.[1]
