Wreck Of 2019 Rhode Island Trawler Found Near Block Island Wind Farm
Divers found the wreck of the F/V Mistress and apparent human remains about 50 feet from a Block Island Wind Farm turbine, Green Oceans announced Wednesday.[1]
A July 27 sonar scan and an August 30 dive located a 52-foot wreck sitting 92 feet deep roughly 50 feet from a wind-turbine foundation, the nonprofit said.[1] Divers documented features matching the F/V Mistress and found apparent human remains believed to be one of the fishermen missing since the 2019 sinking, the group said.[1] Green Oceans has asked the U.S. Department of the Interior to open an interagency investigation and urged the Coast Guard to reopen its 2019 case, the group said.[1] The nonprofit also requested a federal review of whether the Block Island Wind Farm affected the sinking or the 2019 rescue efforts, the group said.[1]
