Texas To Distribute 7 Million Settlement Eggs Through Food Banks
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced on Tuesday, Sept. 8 that the state will distribute more than 7 million free eggs through food banks statewide.[1]
The eggs are part of June 2026 antitrust settlements that require more than 7 million donated eggs and $3.3 million in payments to participating states.[1] About 1.7 million eggs have already been delivered to Texas food banks, with another 5.3 million expected to arrive in the coming weeks.[1] Houston Food Bank is slated to receive 1,544,400 eggs; North Texas Food Bank and Tarrant Area Food Bank will each get 842,400 eggs.[1]
In June 2026, state attorneys secured settlements with Cal-Maine Foods, Centrum/Versova and Hickman's Egg Ranch over alleged price-fixing between 2022 and 2025.
