South St. Paul man gets life for killing roommate
Jacob John Audie, 37, of South St. Paul, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole Tuesday for the premeditated first-degree murder of his 72-year-old roommate.[1]
Audie was found guilty on one count of premeditated first-degree murder and one count of intentional second-degree murder after a stipulated-facts trial on Aug. 19, 2026.[1] Prosecutors said Michael Maurice Schille, 72, was shot inside the apartment they shared on April 11, 2025.[1] Investigators found Schille on a back-bedroom couch holding a remote and with a gunshot wound to the left side of his face.[1] Audie admitted using Schille's rifle and calling 911, prosecutors said.[1]
