Everton Blair Wins Georgia Special House Runoff, Shortening GOP Majority
Everton Blair Jr. won the August 25, 2026 special election runoff to fill Rep. David Scott's House seat in a deep-blue Atlanta-area district, shrinking the Republican majority in the House.[1]
Blair defeated Marcye Scott, the congressman's daughter, and will serve only through the current term ending in January 2027.[1] Combined with Aisha Wahab's recent special election win in California, Blair's victory narrows the GOP majority from 218-212 to 218-214.[1]
