Florida Couple Charged With Neglect After Kids Lived Years In Truck Cab

On August 6, 2026, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office arrested Keisha Epps and Tamra Marshon Stewart on four counts each of child neglect, punishable by up to five years in prison.[1]

Arrest records say four children lived primarily in a tractor-trailer cab with the couple beginning in December 2019 and did not attend school for about five years.[1] Investigators said the children lacked regular medical and dental care, had an unnatural gait, were poorly fed, all slept curled together in a single small bunk, and one had an untreated permanent burn scar.[1] The children alleged Stewart sexually abused someone and beat that person when confronted, and that Epps knew of or witnessed the abuse but left the children alone with him.[1] One child reportedly had an untreated sexually transmitted infection and court documents say capital sexual battery charges against Stewart will be filed in the 9th Judicial Circuit.[1]

Each third-degree felony child neglect count carries up to five years in prison, up to five years of probation, and a $5,000 fine.[1]
