11 Cruise Crew Arrested In Boston Child Sex Abuse Materials Sweep

Federal agents arrested 11 cruise ship crew members in Boston after boarding two vessels between August 14 and 16 in a sweep tied to alleged child sexual-abuse materials.[1]

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said nine of those arrested are from the Philippines, one is from Indonesia and one is from Nicaragua.[1] Agents boarded the Volendam and the Norwegian Breakaway in Boston and searched crew quarters and electronic devices before processing all 11 for removal under Section 212(a)(2)(A)(i)(I) of the Immigration and Nationality Act.[1]

CBP said the Boston arrests follow earlier 2026 Operation Tidal Wave actions in San Diego and Puerto Rico that led to 41 crew arrests on nine ships.[1] Officials say the multistage operation targets distribution of child sexual-abuse materials among crew members and that law enforcement will continue similar boardings at U.S. ports.[1]
