Russian Drones Hit Kryvyi Rih Mall, Killing 15 In Double-Strike

Russian drones struck a shopping mall in Kryvyi Rih on Friday, August 21, 2026, killing at least 15 people and wounding about 130, including 23 children.[1]

Ukrainian authorities called the mall attack a double-tap strike and said separate Russian strikes across Kryvyi Rih, Kharkiv and Mykolaiv killed 21 people nationwide on Friday.[1] The attack followed a barrage on Kyiv the previous night that killed 16 people.[1]

Ukraine's air force reported downing or suppressing 107 of 135 Russian drones launched overnight. Ukrainian drones also struck an oil refinery in Russia's Perm region and hit the Marinovka military airfield in Volgograd. Russian officials reported one person killed and four wounded in a separate Ukrainian drone strike in Belgorod region.

Moscow's defense ministry said its air defenses intercepted 325 Ukrainian drones overnight over 15 regions and Crimea, then intercepted another 211 later Friday.
