State probes influencer's voter impersonation at Minneapolis polls

State election officials are reviewing video that shows conservative influencer Cameron Higby, disguised in a niqab, trying to vouch for or cast other Minneapolis voters' ballots on primary day.[1]

Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon called the conduct "outrageous and totally unacceptable." FOX 9 He said poll workers flagged the behavior in real time and that law enforcement is reviewing the matter.[1] At one Minneapolis polling place workers required documentation from the vouched-for voter and told Higby he could only vote if the person was already registered.[1] Two other sites said vouching did not require ID but would be validated and could cover up to eight vouchees.[1]

Higby produced the video with James O'Keefe, whose earlier Minneapolis "voter fraud" work for Project Veritas was previously undercut by FOX 9 reporting and by allegations of bribery against a key subject.[1] State data show Election Day vouching accounted for less than 0.6% of Minnesota ballots in 2024, and officials say the clip may prompt closer scrutiny of how metro precincts administer the process.[1]
