U.S. Marine Veteran Jailed In Russia Hospitalized In Serious Condition

U.S. Marine veteran Robert Gilman, 32, is hospitalized in serious condition in Russia, advocate Eric Lebson said on Thursday, August 6, 2026.[1]

Lebson said Gilman is in a "dissociative stupor" and is being tube-fed.[1] He alleged Gilman was forced into 16-hour exercise sessions, given psychotropic drugs and pressured to fight in Ukraine.[1] Lebson urged the Trump administration to secure Gilman's immediate humanitarian release so he can receive emergency medical care in the United States.[1] The State Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and Reuters first reported Gilman's current status.[1]
