Costco buys Coon Rapids TGI Fridays to expand gas, parking

Costco has bought the former TGI Fridays at 12519 Riverdale Blvd. in Coon Rapids for $5.5 million to relocate and expand its fuel station.[1]

The new station will double pump capacity from 10 pumps serving 20 cars to 20 pumps serving 40 cars and expand vehicle queuing from 43 to 84 spaces.[1]

Costco will add 128 parking spaces to the site's existing 672 and will fund nearby traffic improvements, including a redesigned intersection, driveway changes and a dedicated right-turn access from Riverdale Boulevard.[1]

The property previously housed the TGI Fridays restaurant at that address, and the purchase clears the way for relocating Costco's fuel operation onto the parcel to increase throughput and reduce queuing impacts on adjacent streets.[1]
