Brooklyn Park home-invasion sex assaults: suspect charged in two cases

Darius Olson-Baker, 25, was charged Friday in two Brooklyn Park home-invasion sexual assaults that prosecutors say occurred July 17 and July 22, and he is being held on $1 million bail.[1]

He faces 10 felony counts, including four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct alleging penetration while armed with a dangerous weapon, four counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of first-degree burglary.[1] Olson-Baker was arrested after a special Brooklyn Park police task force was formed, and his first court appearance is scheduled for Friday at 1:30 p.m. Central.[1]

On July 22 a separate attack was reported at about 5:30 a.m., with officers dispatched around 6:30 a.m. to the 7500 block of Jersey Avenue North.[2] Prosecutors allege the two assaults occurred at homes about two blocks apart on July 17 and July 22 and involved different victims.[1] Witnesses and investigators described the suspect as a light-skinned man wearing a balaclava and having medium-length dreadlocks.[2] Police first asked the public for help in the initial search after the July 17 report.[3] They later urged residents to lock doors and to check security camera footage for suspicious activity dating back about a week.[2]
