Ex-DHS agent from Eagan gets 7 years in child sex case
Timothy Ryan Gregg, 53, a former Department of Homeland Security agent from Eagan, Minnesota, was sentenced to 84 months in federal prison on a transportation-of-child-sexual-images charge.[1]
Prosecutors say Gregg admitted having sex with the victim at least nine times between early March and May 2025.[1] He continued the encounters after checking a law-enforcement database and confirming the girl was 17.[1] He also used his Homeland Security number and email to book the hotel rooms where the encounters occurred.[1] As part of a plea deal, prosecutors dropped a production-of-child-pornography count that would have carried a 15-year mandatory minimum.[1]
Gregg's sentencing follows his admissions to investigators and the plea agreement resolving the federal case against him.[1]
