Farmington hit-and-run: 4 arrested, car recovered in death of 13-year-old cyclist

Farmington police arrested four people Thursday in connection with the July 14 hit-and-run that killed 13-year-old Sasha Balandin as she rode a bicycle in Farmington.[1]

A 30-year-old Farmington man was arrested on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide and failing to stop, police said.[1] Three others — a 28-year-old woman, a 36-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman — were arrested on suspicion of aiding an offender, police said.[1]

Investigators said they located and recovered the gray Ford Focus believed to be involved and that surveillance and Flock camera footage corrected an initial belief that a black SUV was involved.[1]

Sasha Balandin of Apple Valley was publicly identified this week, and her parents and her best friend made emotional public pleas for justice and for the driver to come forward.[2]
