Council members challenge Frey's pick for George Floyd Square developer

Minneapolis council members Jason Chavez and Soren Stevenson on Tuesday challenged Mayor Jacob Frey's pick of Minnesota Agape Movement to develop the People's Way site at George Floyd Square.[1]

Chavez and Stevenson planned a 10 a.m. news conference before a 1:30 p.m. committee meeting where the council would consider advancing a sale and development agreement with Agape.[1] A community survey cited by Chavez showed stronger support for a competing proposal from the Rise and Remember Foundation, which calls for demolishing the gas station and building a memorial garden and greenhouse.[1]
