Barry Moore And Jared Hudson Advance To Alabama GOP Senate Runoff

Rep. Barry Moore and former Navy SEAL Jared Hudson finished as the top two vote-getters in Alabama's Republican U.S. Senate primary and will face off in a June 16 runoff.[1]

President Donald Trump endorsed Moore and praised him on a May 18 telephone rally.[1] Hudson cast himself as an outsider after narrowly edging out Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall for the second slot.[1] On the Democratic side, business owner Dakarai Larriett and lawyer Everett Wess advanced to a June 16 runoff for the same open seat.[1]

Sen. Tommy Tuberville is vacating the Senate seat that Moore and Hudson seek to fill.[1] Moore is a sitting Republican congressman and Hudson is a former Navy SEAL who ran as a political outsider.[1] Marshall had been a top contender but narrowly missed advancing to the runoff.[1]
