California Deputies Release Video Of Armored Vehicle Killing Cop Killer

Kern County deputies on Tuesday, May 19 released video showing a BearCat armored vehicle fatally run over David Morales, 59, after he allegedly shot Tulare County Deputy Randy Hoppert in Porterville on April 9.[1]

The composite release includes bodycam footage and thermal drone video that police said chronicle an hours-long standoff.[1] Officials say Morales fired on deputies and armored vehicles for hours before he aimed a rifle at the BearCat driver and was struck three times, killing him.[1]

On April 9, Deputy Randy Hoppert was shot and killed while serving an eviction notice in Porterville, a killing that prompted the multiagency response that led to the standoff.[1]

Kern County Sheriff's Office released the composite video to the public on Tuesday, the agency said.[1]
